Delaware to host online conference for Digital Learning Day

Release Date: Jan 29, 2013 1:00 PM

Delaware will celebrate national Digital Learning Day (Feb. 6) with four days of afternoon and evening online conferences that will be free and open to the public.  Topics range from “Internet Safety – What the Other Experts Won’t Talk About” and “Personalized Learning with the iPad” to “Digital Citizenship” and “Media Literacy in the 21st Century.”

The Online Professional Development Conference, a project of the Delaware Department of Education’s Delaware Center for Educational Technology in conjunction with the Digital Learning Cadre, is a first of its kind for Delaware educators. While many of the topics are geared toward educators, the general public also may be interested and is welcome to attend, too.

Digital Learning Day is a national campaign “that celebrates teachers and shines a spotlight on successful instructional practice and effective use of technology in classrooms across the country.”

Delaware’s conference will span from Monday, Feb. 4 through Thursday, Feb. 7 with up to four conferences each day between 3 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. The sessions, scheduled to run about 45 minutes each, will be delivered via Blackboard Collaborate. Find the full list of offerings and more information, including links to join each session, at http://www.dcet.k12.de.us/DDLCOnline/index.shtml. Participants will need a computer connected to the Internet and speakers or a headset.

More information on the national Digital Learning Day campaign is available here.
