Delaware health science students bring home awards from national conference
Students from each county recently brought home awards from the 2012 HOSA National Leadership Conference in Orlando.
HOSA-Future Health Professionals is a national student organization serving health science students committed to compassionate and quality healthcare for everyone. On June 20th Delaware received its official state charter at the 2012 HOSA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, meaning the state’s group is now recognized by the national organization.
Over the four-day conference, more than 5,000 delegates participated in 56 competitive events. Students from Delaware HOSA demonstrated their commitment to healthcare with seven students placing in the top 10 of their competitive event, three of those students receiving medals.
Secretary of Education Mark Murphy and the Delaware Department of Education congratulate all students and advisors who represented Delaware HOSA at the state and/or national level during this first year. The following students placed in the top 10 of their competitive event:
Biotechnology Jesseca Ousey St. Georges Technical High School (New Castle County Vo-Tech) 9th Place
Career Health Display Domonique May/Candace Pickett POLYTECH High School (POLYTECH) 3rd Place-Bronze Medal Recipient
Clinical Nursing Angela Pesce Delcastle (New Castle County Vo-Tech) 5th Place
Dental Science Logan Wharton Sussex Technical High School (Sussex Tech) 6th Place
Medical Terminology Bansri Patel Sussex Technical High School (Sussex Tech) 6th Place
Nursing Assisting Priyen Patel Sussex Technical High School (Sussex Tech) 2nd Place-Silver Medal Recipient
