Delaware Students to Demonstrate Workforce-Ready Skills at National Competition
Who: Delaware skilled and technical sciences high school students
What: SkillsUSA National Championships
When: June 22 - 23, 2011
Where:Kansas City, Missouri
Why: To promote learning and foster industry support for skilled and technical sciences high school students.
Next week, 104 Delaware students will demonstrate their workforce-ready skills as they compete against the best in the country at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. Events will showcase student workforce skills in career areas that include air conditioning/refrigeration repair, auto mechanics, computer systems, cosmetology, commercial baking, industrial motor controls, leadership, nursing, plumbing, preschool teaching, and welding.
All students competing are current state champions.They represent the following high schools: New Castle County Vo-Tech School District’s Delcastle, Hodgson, Howard and St. Georges; Polytech’s Polytech and Sussex Tech’s Sussex Tech.
