Delaware Students to Apply Innovative "Know and How"; at the National Technology Student Association Conference

What: National Technology Student Association (TSA) Conference
When: June 21 - 25, 2011
Where: Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas
Why: Nearly 70 students and educators from across the state will represent Delaware due to their outstanding performance at the State TSA conference. At the National TSA Conference, the students will demonstrate their skills in hands-on, minds-on competitions against nearly 4,000 other participants from throughout the United States.
Delaware's student members are preparing to compete in up to 60 competitive events based on principles and concepts learned through projects during the school year in related to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects. The conference will recognize the technological future of the nation with the theme "Snapshot of Innovation."
Students will represent Delaware in a variety of events, such as CAD, Construction Renovation, Video Game Design, Dragster Design, Engineering Design, Flight Endurance, Photographic Technology, Robotics, Transportation Modeling and more. Attendees from Delaware will also participate in special leadership sessions, designed to develop and enhance their skills through customized sessions for middle and high school students and teachers, graduating seniors and chapter and state TSA officers. Other special interest sessions will be presented by industry representatives and educators.

- Cab Calloway School of the Arts (Red Clay Consolidated School District)
- Caesar Rodney High School (Caesar Rodney School District)
- Concord High School (Brandywine School District)
- Delmar High School (Delmar School District)
- Gauger-Cobbs Middle School (Christina School District)
- Lake Forest High School (Lake Forest School District)
- Mount Pleasant High School (Brandywine School District)
- P. S. duPont Middle School (Brandywine School District)
- Postlethwait Middle School (Caesar Rodney School District)
- Seaford Senior High School (Seaford School District)
The first of four general sessions will be held on Wednesday, June 22 and will open the conference with a "Parade of State Flags" ceremony and a keynote address given by Cameron Evans, National and Chief Technology Officer of the Microsoft Corporation. TSA partners with The American Cancer Society (ACS) for its national service project, and conference attendees will take part in the TSA/ACS Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back commemorative event. Chapters and states will be recognized for their ACS fundraising efforts throughout the year.
