72 Seniors to be Honored for Outstanding Academic Achievement

Release Date: May 6, 2011 4:30 PM

Top students from Delaware’s public high schools will be honored Monday as exemplary scholars of the graduating Class of 2011 at the annual Secretary of Education’s Scholars Dinner at Dover Downs Hotel in Dover.
The state’s political and education leaders will gather at 6:30 p.m. to celebrate the students’ achievements and wish them well as they continue their education at some of the nation’s top colleges and universities. Nominated by their principals, the scholars were selected for their academic excellence and community service.
"At such a young age these outstanding young men and women already have impressive resumes,” Secretary of Education Lillian M. Lowery said. “They are school leaders, community volunteers and active in a wide range of extracurricular and athletic activities -- all while maintaining grade point averages that top their classes."
