Delaware to Receive Backpacks and Books to Support Homeless Students
What: Delivery of backpacks and books that will support homeless students in Delaware
When: 1 p.m., Thursday, March 17
Where: Capital School District, 69 Carver Road, Dover, DE
Background: Feed the Children, a national organization that provides support to homeless children, is donating 960 backpacks containing school supplies and hygiene items for elementary and middle school students. In addition, Delaware will receive about 1,500 books for various reading levels. Vermont also is receiving a donation from the group. The backpacks and books will be distributed to district and charter school homeless liaisons throughout the state who will distribute them based on need to schools and shelters. The Capital School District has agreed to receive and store the shipment until the distribution.
