Federal Funds Available for Meals Served in Day Care Settings

Release Date: Feb 18, 2011 1:43 PM

(Dover, DE.)  - Federal funds are available to help child and adult day care providers in Delaware serve nutritious, healthy meals to children and adults in their care.  The program started in 1968.  In fiscal year 2010, reimbursement was provided for more than 15.5 million meals and snacks served to Delaware residents.

Under the USDA-sponsored Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), child care centers, adult day care centers and family child care providers throughout Delaware can receive cash reimbursement for meals served to eligible children and adults.  Participant eligibility is tied to income eligibility guidelines that are adjusted by the United States Department of Agriculture.  The current eligibility guidelines are as follows:

For Use by Child and Adult Care Food Program
Effective Date: July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2011

These are the income scales used by Child Nutrition Programs to determine eligibility for free and reduced price meals.
