Seventh Annual Policy and Practice Institute will be held
(Dover, DE.) The Seventh Annual Policy and Practice Institute will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Dover Downs Hotel and Conference Center in Dover. This year’s theme is “Building Human Capital at the Building Level.” The Institute will feature two keynote speakers: Dr. Bradley Portin of the University of Washington, an expert on teacher leadership, and Dr. Thomas Payzant of Harvard University, who will address the topic of systemic reform in school districts and schools. The event is funded by a grant from The Wallace Foundation.
The Annual Policy and Practice Institute brings together the state’s practicing and aspiring administrators, teacher leaders, higher education professionals and policy makers in a collaborative environment. Participants learn about national and state education research and initiatives and then engage in discussions. The results include making recommendations that guide the future of Delaware’s education policies.
In addition to the keynote speakers as well as breakout sessions for participants led by national experts in the field of education, vendors will be present featuring educational materials, resources and research.
The event is presented by the Delaware Department of Education, the Delaware Academy for School Leadership, the Delaware Principals’ Academy, the Delaware Association of School Administrators, the Delaware Center for Educational Technology and the Delaware Education Research and Development Center.
