Thomas “Tommie” Neubauer to Receive NIAAA State Award of Merit
(Indianapolis, IN) Thomas “Tommie” Neubauer, CMAA, Coordinator of Officials and Events for the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association will be presented the 2008 NIAAA State Award of Merit by the Delaware Association of Athletic Directors on October 13, 2008. The presentation will be made during the annual DAAD meeting to be held at the John W. Collette Education Center in Dover on October 13.
A 1980 cum laude graduate of West Chester State College (PA) with a BS degree in Education, Neubauer started his career at Caravel Academy n Bear, DE. After five years at Caravel Academy, Tom moved to Middletown High School where he remained for twenty years before taking his current position in the DIAA office in 2005. He served as the athletic director at Middletown from 1998 until 2005. He was selected as the DAAD Athletic Director of the Year in 2002 and served as President of the DAAD in 2004.
Tom was a licensed official in football for twenty-five years and in softball for twenty years working in multiple state championship games in both sports. Tom served as Youth Leagues assigner for football for an unprecedented twelve years. Tom became State Director of Officiating form Delaware in 1998 and served on the NFOA Board of Directors until it was dissolved in 2002.
A lifetime member of the NIAAA, Tom has served the NIAAA as only one of two qualified instructor trainers from Delaware for the NIAAA’s LTC Program. He is a member of the NIAAA Endowment Committee and is now the chairperson of the annual NIAAA Endowment Golf Tournament.
