Three Schools Receive Parent Partnership Award
(Dover, Del.) Three Delaware’s public schools have been awarded the Delaware Department of Education’s (DOE) Parent Partnership Award for 2007-2008. This award is given annually to three schools whose parent involvement programs strongly support the needs of all children and families.
The winning schools for the 2007-08 school year are:
- Bancroft Intermediate School – Christina School District, Jacqueline Lee, Principal
- Lake Forest North Elementary – Lake Forest School District, Brenda Wynder, Principal
- John G. Leach School – Colonial School District, John Jadach Jr., Principal
“Schools were asked to demonstrate their parent involvement programs by submitting a portfolio of activities,” said Connie Moran, Education Specialist for Early Childhood at DOE. “A committee consisting of graduates of the Rodel Foundation’s Delaware Parent Leadership Institute evaluated the nominees. The criteria for the award included two way communication; involving parents in decision-making; using data to drive activities; offering programs for families that focused on student achievement; and creativity of projects.”
“I congratulate this year’s recipients for creating a school community that includes parents and raises the opportunity of achievement for all students,” said Ron Houston, Director for School Improvement at DOE.
Delaware’s Department of Education is committed to promoting the highest quality education for every Delaware student by providing visionary leadership and superior service.
