Legislative Essay Winners to Receive Awards

---$25,500 in scholarships to be presented to three high school seniors---

WHO: Senator David P. Sokola, (D-8th Senatorial District; Deputy Secretary of Education Nancy J. Wilson, Ph.D.; Legislative Essay Scholarship recipients: Scott Falin (1st place – Tatnall School); Logan Hughes (2nd place – St. Thomas More Academy); Katherine Kleinot (3rd place – Glasgow High School); Delaware Higher Education Commission representatives; family members; invited guests.   

WHAT: Awarding of scholarships and trophies to three statewide winners of the eighth annual Legislative Essay Scholarship contest.  

WHEN: Tuesday, March 18th, noon.

WHERE: Delaware Room, Delaware Public Archives, Dover      

WHY: Each year, the Legislative Essay Scholarship Contest is held for all high school seniors in Delaware. The essay topic changes annually and focuses on events, people, philosophies, technologies, governments, or ideals in American history from approximately 1770 to 1860. This year, students were asked to address the following topic: E Pluribus Unum: Is this motto adopted in 1782 relevant to our country today?
