Delaware Captures 1st Place at Technology Student Association Conference

Two Area High Schools Receive Accolades for American Cancer Society Contribution

Dover, Del.–July 15, 2005  More than 70 of Delaware’s students, advisors and parents from the Delaware Technology Student Association (TSA) recently attended the National TSA Conference in Chicago, Illinois, where they engaged in spirited competition and educational learning with more than 4,500 students from around the country. Delaware public school students faired quite well in various tasks, exhibits and competitions, and in two instances, captured top honors for outstanding performance.

Jen Chan from Brandywine High School placed first in “Career Comparison” while Joshua Isaacs from Brandywine School District’s Hanby Middle School placed first in “Computer Applications.” Postlethwait Middle School in the Caesar Rodney School District also placed second in “System Control Technology” while Lake Forest High School captured fifth place in “Structural Engineering.”

8th Technical Writing Challenge Katie Henault – Postlethwait Middle School
9th Technical Design Challenge Postlethwait Middle School
9th Technical Writing Challenge Tyler Cragg – Springer Middle School
9th Video Challenge Postlethwait Middle School
10th Video Challenge Springer Middle School

Mt. Pleasant High School and Brandywine High School were recognized for outstanding contributions to the American Cancer Society.Due to their efforts, Delaware was recognized for the state’s largest contribution of $34,619 to the American Cancer Society.

Sharon Rookard, Education Associate for Technology Education at Delaware’s Department of Education and Delaware’s TSA State Advisor was elected to serve as President-elect of TSA for 2005 and then as President in 2006.
