Educator Appreciation Night” to Be Celebrated at the Blue Rocks’ Frawley Stadium
Lieutenant Governor Carney, Teacher of the Year to Throw Out First Ball
Dover, Del.–June 1, 2005On Monday, June 6, the Wilmington Blue Rocks will celebrate their first ever “Educator Appreciation Night” at Frawley Stadiumto honor teachers from Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania for their tireless efforts to provide students with a quality education.
Lieutenant Governor John C. Carney, Jr., Secretary of Education Valerie A. Woodruff, Kathleen Thomas, Delaware’s Teacher of the Year, and Nikki Salvatico,Pennsylvania’s Teacher of the Year, will throw out the first pitch for the 7:05 game against the Kinston Indians.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to help recognize the education profession,” said Secretary Woodruff.“I am pleased that the Wilmington Blue Rocks, Staples and the Delaware Museum of Natural History would sponsor an evening to honor educators not only in Delaware,but in our surrounding states, as well. This is truly a great way of saying thank you for a job well done.”
More than 400 educators and their guests will receive free or discounted general admission ticketsas well as free education-related supplies from Staples and the Delaware Museum of Natural History.
