Delaware Future Farmers of America Association Prepares for 75th State Convention
Dover, Del.–March 21, 2005 On March 22-23, students from Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters throughout Delaware will gather at Clayton Hallon the University of Delaware’s campus to take part in celebrating the 75th convention of the Delaware FFA Association.The theme of this year’s convention is “Remember the Past, Impact the Future.”
More than 500 students, advisors, and guests will participate in judging events, leadership activities and toursand also be part of a celebration of past officers. Students will participate in activities including: prepared speaking,extemporaneous speaking, creed speaking, floriculture, dairy foods, parliamentary procedure, agriculture sales, and the job interview. First place students will represent Delaware at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY in October.Twenty students will be receiving State Degrees, the highest honor a state FFA association can bestow.State proficiency winners will also be recognized.
One of the highlights of the convention will be the return of many past state officers. More than 100 people will be taking partin a reception to honor those that have served in the past. The evening session will include the opening of a time capsulefrom the 50th State FFA Convention and the closing of one to be opened at the 100th celebration.Chapters will also bring canned food as a culmination of a food drive that started during National FFA Week in February.
Special guests include Jay Kelley, the National FFA Eastern Region Vice President, from Illinois, and Doug Loudenslager,COO of the National FFA Organization. The new state officer team will be named at the final session on March 23rd.
