2,500 U.S. Lawmakers to Visit Schools Across U.S.

Delaware Legislators to Promote Democracy in All Three Counties

Dover, Del. - September 12, 2003 During the week of September 15-19, our country's largest demonstration of bipartisanship will take place as nearly 2,500 Democrat and Republican state lawmakers nationwide visit public school students across the U.S. in our nation's "largest civic lesson."

First started in 1999, "America's Legislators Back to School Week" is a program sponsored by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), a bipartisan organization that serves legislators and staff of all 50 states, commonwealths and territories. This year, state lawmakers are expected to talk with more than 250,000 public school students at every grade level.

The program affords legislators to meet personally with their young constituents and to answer questions, share ideas, listen to concerns and impart a greater understanding of the legislative processes necessary for developing effective public policy.
