Reaching Higher for Student Success - "Yes YOU Can!"

The Reaching Higher for Student Success initiative is driven by the results of research conducted in Delaware with educators, students, parents, business leaders and college professors. Additional research from national studies make it clear that we need to do more to prepare students to graduate, and to succeed in college and careers. The new Student Success Plans are an important component of Reaching Higher for Student Success, the Delaware Department of Education’s ongoing initiative to revitalize Delaware’s public middle and high schools. “Yes YOU Can!” Public Awareness Campaign
As part of the Reaching Higher for Student Success initiative, DOE launched a major communications campaign in April 2007 called “Yes YOU Can!” The campaign was developed with input from students, parents, teachers, college professors and employers. It features an interactive website (www.yesyoucande.com) with information and resources on careers and colleges — from help with career goals, resumes and links to jobs in Delaware, to what courses and tests to take in high school that will prepare students for college or the workforce.  It includes links to Delaware colleges, on-line admissions, scholarship and financial aid, and resources for parents. The campaign will also use variety of innovative and engaging communication tools to motivate students to be in charge of their future and take responsibility for their educational choices. Grassroots outreach efforts will engage parents, teachers, educators and the business community in the effort. The focus of the campaign is to create a shared commitment among students, educators, parents and the community that all high school students will graduate ready for college, work and citizenship.
