Title I, Part A - Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Education Agencies
This program provides financial assistance to LEAs and schools with high numbers or high percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.
- The Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) applied for ESEA Flexibility from the U.S. Department of Education on February 28, 2012. The DDOE officially received notice on May 29, 2012 that its application for ESEA Flexibility was approved. As such, the consequences for school improvement as outlined in Section 1116 of the ESEA, including the provision of supplemental educational services, are no longer required beginning in the 2012-2013 school year. The DDOE will no longer maintain a list of approved supplemental educational services providers, nor will LEAs be required to offer supplemental educational services. The DDOE will no longer proceed with its review of responses to the Request for Proposal from providers interested in becoming state approved SES providers. Current providers also do not need to submit continuation applications to continue providing SES in Delaware. For additional information visit the DDOE's ESEA Flexibility website.
